Volunteer Accomodation – Spey Lodge

If you’re coming to volunteer on the railway for a couple of days or more, the Strathspey Railway Association operates Spey Lodge. Built by the LMS as a railwayman’s hostel to serve the adjacent engine shed and yards, the Lodge still fulfils its original function by providing very reasonably priced accommodation for working SRA members.

Over the years the Lodge has been progressively refurbished by the railway’s volunteers and offers excellent facilities. There is a fully equipped kitchen with fridges, freezer and full cooking facilities. If you forget to take any supplies there’s a small shop selling canned goods and snacks. We also have laundry facilities to give your gear a freshen up.

Each of the rooms is double glazed and has a heater plus hooks to hang your kit on. We do ask that you bring your own bed linen, pillowcase and of course sleeping bag. A shower and washroom are available in both wings.

A TV lounge with Freesat and a selection of videos, DVDs, and magazines is available. However, you’ll usually manage to find someone to go out to the pub if you wish!
