46464 Back in Steam
In a milestone for railway preservation, the Strathspey Railway welcomes the return of Ivatt Class 2 46464 back into steam. The “Carmyllie Pilot” was the first engine to operate on the railway back in 1978 and her return is the result of many years hard and dedicated work by her owning group The Carmyllie Pilot Company Ltd. Work started at Bridge of Dun with the later work carried out at Aviemore after she moved back in 2018. She was completed thanks to a joint effort by the group’s members and the Strathspey’s engineering team.
The Carmyllie Pilot Company Ltd maintain a Facebook page here with interesting articles about 46464. The BBC carried the story on 8th July and it can be read here.

2023 SRA AGM
The 2023 Annual General Meeting of the Strathspey Railway Association took place on Saturday 4th November 2023. Members enjoyed discussions on topics relating to the current situation at the railway. This was our first attempt at a “Hybrid” meeting with some memebrs joining us virtually using Teams, feedback is awaited on how successful this first attempt was (we did a fully virtual AGM during Covid). The members then enjoyed an excellent presentation on “The Callander & Oban Railway” presented by Graham Maxtone. Thanks go to the Boat Hotel for hosting us, particularly for excellent lunch and the work to set up the screen for the presentations. The annual accounts are still available to view online here.
